Some of the Symptoms Social Anxiety Disorder Causes

A very common question is what are the symptoms social anxiety disorder has, how do you know if you have social anxiety disorder or not. In my personal opinion you can’t really pin-point social anxiety as ONE thing, like most things in psychology there’s only waypoints that indicate something and enough of those fit into a single category then you might fit into that “box” or label.

In most cases the symptoms social anxiety disorder cause come from the same point, a deep lack of self-trust.

You might suspect you suffer from social anxiety disorder but you won’t really know until you see a specialist, here I’ll show you the main symptoms social anxiety disorder causes; let’s see if you identify with some:

Feeling an intense and persistent fear to one (or more) social situations or public performances, in which the subject might be object of judgment from others. This person is scared to act a certain way, or show signs of anxiety for fear of being humiliated or made fun of.

The most common anxiety triggering situations are: Eating or speaking in public, assisting social gathering, participate in class, give a presentation, appearing on television or other public spectacles, going on dates, holding eye contact, etc.

This person recognizes this fear is excessive and irrational but can’t control it. In some cases might experiment blushing, difficulty to speak, shaky hands or voice, nausea, an urgent need to urinate and so on.

The anxiety provoking situations are usually avoided or just assumed at the expense of feeling an intense feeling of anxiety, angst and fear.

This phobia interferes deeply with the subjects normal life, personal and work relationships, might even interfere with family relationships in more extreme cases.

Social phobia is an intense fear to feel humiliated in social situations, especially about acting in a way that might place you in an embarrassing situation in front of others. It might be accompanied with depression or substance abuse.

If you suffer from social anxiety or social phobia you probably have the idea that other people are very competent in public and that you’re not. This is one of those main symptoms social anxiety disorder causes.

Small mistakes might seem bigger than they really are. It might feel like it’s very embarrassing to blush in public and you might feel like you’re constantly being observed.

You might be scared being around people you don’t know very well or your fear might be more specific like feeling anxiety if you have to give a speech, talk to your boss or another authority figure.

The most common type of social phobia is related to public speaking. In various occasions it involves a general fear to social situations such as attending parties.

Less frequent is the fear to use a public bathroom, eating in public, talk on the phone or write in presence of others.

Even though social anxiety disorder is often confused with shyness, they’re not the same.

Shy people might feel uncomfortable when being around others, but won’t experiment extreme anxiety when anticipating a social situation.

On the other hand people with social phobia are not necessarily shy.

They might feel at ease with people most times but in certain situations intense anxiety can be triggered.

Social anxiety interferes with your normal life, might even interfere with your job or social interactions.

For example; only choosing jobs where your anxiety won’t be triggered and having great difficulty finding one because of the anxiety feeling. Those are some symptoms social anxiety disorder causes. Anticipation fear might start weeks before the event actually happens and can be very tiring.

The symptoms social anxiety disorder causes many times can even be recognized as irrational by people who feel them. However they’d much rather avoid confronting this situation; anxiety sometimes might not even disappear after the situation is over, anxiety over the performance in the previous situation and how you performed or were being judged remains.
